International Grain Future Freight (Sep.4-Sep.8)

Week 36, 2017 ((Sep.4-Sep.8), the International Grain Future Freight (IGF) reported the Panamax forward freight rate of U.S. Gulf-Tianjin route (soybean) from Jan. to Mar. in 2018, and the trend is shown in the chart below.

The good rate of soybean was 61%. It was 61% in last week and it was 73% in the same period of last year. The bear pods rate was 97% and it was 93% in last week and 97% in the same period of last year. Since September, the podding was almost completed and the growth situation of soybean was good.

In terms of the shipping market, the future freight rate increased significantly. It increased 0.32% from Sep.4 to Sep.5 (Mon. to Tue.) and then kept stable on Sep.6 (Wed.). From Sep.7 to Sep.8 (Thu. to Fri.) the future freight rate increased significantly. Finally, the future freight rate was closed at $40.13/ton with an increase of 3.88% from Sep.1 (the last release day of Week 35).
