Liaoning Port Group’s cumulative throughput of Simandou iron ore has exceeded 1 million metric tons
On August 31, the Liaoning Port Group announced that since the launch of the bonded crushing project for Simandou iron ore, Dalian Port has successfully received six vessels carrying Simandou iron ore, with cumulative throughput exceeding 1 million metric tons.
According to the Group, Dalian Port is strategically located at the center of the Northeast Asian economic circle and boasts one of China's first batch of 400,000-tonne dedicated iron ore berths, as well as a comprehensive sea-rail intermodal transport system. It serves as the most convenient maritime gateway for Simandou iron ore entering Northeast China. Since the Simandou iron ore bonded crushing project was initiated in March this year, the Liaoning Port Group has fully leveraged its port location, deep-water berths, and other advantages, continuously strengthening collaborative coordination with upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial and supply chains. The Group has steadily optimized the entire process—from vessel berthing, unloading, bonded crushing, screening, to transshipment—providing efficient and high-quality port logistics services to attract cargo throughput. This has offered more diversified and stable logistical support for the raw material supply of steel enterprises in the hinterland.
It is noted that within just a few months, the daily bonded crushing output at Dalian Port's ore terminal has surged from 1,000 metric tons during the trial phase to the current 13,000 metric tons, exceeding the original design capacity and achieving stable full-capacity production. Its operational efficiency now ranks among the top of major coastal ports nationwide.
