Recently, CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., in cooperation with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd., officially signed a construction contract for 2+2 6,400 TEU container vessels with CK Line, a well-known South Korean shipping company, in Guangzhou.  

The contracted 6,400 TEU container vessels are designed by the Seventh Research Institute of CSSC. Each vessel has an overall length of 240 meters, a molded breadth of 42.8 meters, a deadweight of approximately 80,310 tons, a standard container capacity of 6,406 TEU, and is equipped with 1,150 reefer plugs. The design offers advantages such as large box capacity, low unit transport cost, high operational flexibility, fast speed, and outstanding environmental performance.  

CK Line’s business primarily covers container transportation in the China–Japan–South Korea and Southeast Asian regions. Huangpu Wenchong has extensive experience and an excellent track record in the construction of feeder and medium-sized container ships. In 2025, Huangpu Wenchong delivered two 2,700 TEU container vessels to CK Line. This renewed cooperation not only further consolidates the company’s leading position in the international medium-sized container ship market, but also demonstrates the strong competitiveness of Chinese shipbuilders in high-end and green vessel construction.  

Huangpu Wenchong’s product portfolio for container ships continues to improve, now covering major types including 1,900 TEU, 3,000 TEU, 4,300 TEU, 5,300 TEU, and 6,400 TEU, with batch order capabilities. Among these, the cumulative orders for 6,000 TEU-class medium-sized container ships have reached 26 vessels, with customers covering multiple global top shipping companies in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and other regions.
