Korean shipbuilder K Shipbuilding has recently secured orders for series of MR and LR1 product tankers from a Greek owner and a Middle Eastern client, respectively.

Specifically, K Shipbuilding disclosed that it has signed contracts with European and Middle Eastern clients for six product tankers, with a total value of KRW 510 billion (approximately $370 million). The orders include two 50,000 dwt MR product tankers and 2+2 74,000 dwt LR1 tankers, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the first half of 2028. The shipbuilder did not disclose the specific identities of the clients.

Market sources indicate that Greek owner Evangelos Pistiolis is linked to the two MR product tankers ordered at K Shipbuilding, which are expected to be delivered in mid-2028. This also marks the owner's first newbuilding order placed with the Korean shipyard.
