According to an official message from COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers on July 27, at the Nantong base terminal of ZPMC, the last rubber-tyred gantry crane (RTG) was smoothly loaded onto the main deck of the vessel Da Xiang, marking the completion of all cargo loading for the Zhenhua Namibia project.

The three vessels—Da An, Da Xin, and Da Xiang—are carrying a total of 17 RTGs and have set sail for Walvis Bay, Namibia.

This project faced multiple challenges: on the one hand, the delivery schedule was extremely tight, with preparation time significantly shorter than that of conventional port machinery transport projects, putting substantial pressure on vessel scheduling and on-site operations; on the other hand, operational standards were exceptionally stringent. RTGs are precision heavy-lift equipment, demanding extreme accuracy in lifting and positioning as well as high-quality sea-fastening and lashing. Moreover, the client appointed a third-party MWS (Marine Warranty Survey) professional team to inspect the lashing plans and on-site operations, with inspection criteria exceeding the standard requirements for conventional heavy-lift vessel lashing operations, thereby raising the bar for technical solutions and on-site management. To ensure the project was delivered on schedule and to the required quality, the project team coordinated extensively across multiple parties and implemented targeted measures.

COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers' Pan-American Business Division provided full support, coordinating and dispatching vessels to return in ballast to secure the schedule, laying a solid foundation for the smooth progress of the project.

Facing its first multi-voyage task since its establishment, the East China Branch managed the overall coordination throughout the process, liaising with the terminal at every stage to optimize work organization. By increasing terminal work shifts, applying for night navigation, and conducting night operations, they reduced port turnaround time, saving a total of 3 to 4 days in vessel schedule.

The company's Cargo Technology Division fully leveraged the professional loading advantages of the "DA III" type heavy-lift vessels, utilizing the spacious deck space and excellent load-bearing capacity to precisely formulate the full technical plan for lifting, lashing, and securing, fully meeting the high standards required by the third-party survey.

Through close collaboration among all relevant parties, the 17 RTGs, after careful stowage and lashing, were securely placed aboard the special carrier vessels and set sail for their destination.
