On June 21, Center for Forecasting Science of Chinese Academy of Sciences together with Center for Transport, Trade and Financial Studies of City University of Hong Kong jointly issued “2012 Forecast Report of Global Top 20Container Ports” which had the contents that the container transport demand of China main ports will gradually turn to mild increase pace from fast increase pace under the influence of these factors including China economic structural adjustment, the change of foreign trade development way and the development of new overseas market demand, etc.

It is anticipated in the report that in 2012, the container throughput of China’s Top 10 ports will continue to keep the growing trend, but compared to 2011, the growing rate of some ports will decrease to a certain extent. In the view of medium and long-term, the container throughput of China ports will continue to keep the growing trend. But because of the structural adjustment and the change of foreign trade development way, the container transport demand of China main ports will gradually turn to mild increase pace from fast increase pace.

The report comments that China Government shall scientifically map out and planning the arrangement and adjustment of national ports according to the future development trend of the container transport demand so as to guarantee that the ports are developed and constructed in a proper way.
