Sovcomflot takes delivery of ice-class Panamax bulker NS Energy

Sovcomflot (SCF Group) on November 19, 2012 accepted delivery and commissioned into service the M/V NS Energy, a 74,000dwt dry cargo ship of 1B Ice Class. The dry bulk carrier was built at South Korean Hyundai Mipo Dockyard under the supervision of two classification societies: Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), the Group’s unit Novoship reports. Novoship is responsible for supervising the newbuild construction and for the vessel operation management.

The vessel is designed for transportation of coal, grain, iron ore, potash, cement and non-hazardous fertilizer.

The M/V NS Energy is the first vessel of a package of two bulk carriers booked by SCF Group last year’s summer. The second serial vessel the M/V NS Yakutia is due to join the Group’s fleet in January, 2013.

The crew of NS Energy consists of 20 Russian sailors. Before heading for the newbuild acceptance, the crew members had been trained at the educational and training center "Novoship Training."

Ship main characteristics: length overall - 225.00 m, breadth - 32, 25 m, depth - 19,50 m, maximum draft - 14.10 m, DWT – 74,000, cargo holds - 7.
