Chinese Shipowner to Order Container Vessels from Taiwan

It seems that another shipbuilding contract is to be signed between a Chinese shipowner and a Taiwanese shipbuilder. Namely, China’s SITC International Holdings is set to order eight 1,800 teu container vessels worth USD 192 million in total from Taiwan’s state shipbuilder CSBC Corp, Asian news portals report.

The official contract signing will be held in Taipei on April 2.

This shipbuilding contract is the second order that was placed by a Chinese owner with a Taiwanese yard after Cosco hired CSBC to build four container vessels in 1993.

CSBC will commence the construction of the first vessel from the order in November this year.
