China: marine equipment export to see declining trends

2013-04-26

In January and February, 2013, marine equipment export has seen moderate growth but slow.

According to data from China General Administrations of Customs, January-February, total volume of marine equipment import and export reached 954 million dollars, decreased by 10.6% year-on-year. The export was 438 million dollars, increasing by 7.2% and the import was 510 million dollars, declining by 21.7%.

In February, the export of Chinese marine equipment was 180 million dollars and the import reached 219 million dollars respectively with a 3.9% and 39.3% fall, which has reached the lowest export and import level since February, 2012.

Due to constantly decrease of holding orders from Chinese and foreign shipbuilding companies, it is expected that in the next few months the export of Chinese marine equipment will remain declining trends.
