China: SWS, DNV Start PSV Projects

Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS) Design & Research Institute and DNV held a kick-off meeting for its PSV Project on Aug.14th thus marking the official beginning of the design process of H1340 and H1341, the first built PSV projects.

The Deputy Director of Design Dept. No.2 and the Project Design Manager, Mr. Zhang Xiaokai and the relevant personnel attended the meeting. The design emphasis and difficulties of the whole vessel, the requirements stipulated by the certification of the whole vessel equipment and the business process of both parties were discussed during the meeting. Having agreed that this project embodies the first cooperation in offshore sector, both parties voiced their willingness to assign elite personnel to build a first-class PSV and create an excellent example of cooperation by adopting efficient management.

The owner of the PSVs (H1340, H1341) is from Singapore Pacific Radiance. The basic design of PSV is provided by Ulstein Group, Norway and its detailed and production design has been ensured by SWS Design & Research Institute. The building contract of the PSV was signed on May 18, the design contract was signed on June 11. The project kick off meeting was held on June 18. During the labor skill competition which was held from July 4th to Aug.4, the technology-related negotiations for major equipment had been mostly completed.

A total of 25 sets of basic design concepts had been submitted. Eight equipment proposals had been returned. The total 2200-ton steel plates had been ordered on Aug.15. So far, all the design work is being pushed forward according to schedule.
