THE hinterland province of Jiangxi has signed a memorandum of cooperation on export of agricultural products with coastal province Fujian which exempts Jiangxi farm product exports via Fujian to Southeast Asia from customs inspection, said Xinhua.

Jiangxi, which is rich in soil, forest and water resources, has come from the richest farm lands in China, said the Jiangxi inspection and quarantine authority. Its major categories of agricultural production include rice, vegetables, oranges, eels and pork.

Most of Jiangxi's agricultural products are exported via Guangdong in the south, Fujian in the southeast, Shanghai and Ningbo in the east. Its exports to Southeast Asia mainly transship via ports in Fujian province.

From now on, Jiangxi's containerised agricultural product exports can be reloaded directly onto ships at Fujian ports if these products are originated in Jiangxi and have been applied with CIQ seal by the Jiangxi inspection and quarantine authority.

Meanwhile, Jiangxi orange exports can also be exempted from expressway toll charges in Fujian if they have inspection and quarantine certificate from Jiangxi and are applied with lead seal.

In response to the Chinese government's appeal to support agricultural industry development in Jiangxi province, coastal regions like Guangdong and Fujian have started to offer greater convenience to agricultural exports from Jiangxi. Jiangxi is also strengthening supervision on such exports to secure the quality and maintain the reputation of their farm products.
