Shanghai Free Trade Zone January trade up 2.4pc to US$9.8 billion

CHINA's Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone posted a 2.4 per cent month-to-month increase in import and export value to CNY59.56 billion (US$9.8 billion) in January 2014, according to Shanghai customs statistics, reports Xinhua.

The export value in the month increased 5.2 per cent month to month to CNY15.05 billion and the import value grew 1.5 per cent month to month to CNY44.51 billion.

The free trade zone has attracted more than 600 new enterprises since it commenced operation at the end of September 2013. In the fourth quarter of 2013, its import and export volume increased 4.3 per cent year on year.

The Shanghai Customs will adopt international advanced practice in the future and introduce a series of trade facilitation measures to further enhance customs clearance efficiency. Also it will focus on the establishment of a information sharing platform offering services for its all departments.
