Singapore September bunker fuel sales down 4% on month to 3.52 million mt

Bunker fuel sales in Singapore fell to 3.52 million mt in September, a 4% drop from August and a 2.5% drop year on year, data released Monday by the Maritime and Port Authority showed.

September volumes were also at a two-month low, not seen since June’s 3.37 million mt, the data also showed.

Demand in September was normal, with sellers saying it was not a memorable month and with no great spikes in demand.

September bunker fuel sales included 2.65 million mt of 380 CST high sulfur fuel oil, 57,600 mt of 180 CST HSFO and 677,600 mt of 500 CST HSFO, according to MPA’s data.

The low sulfur grades included 29,900 mt of 380 CST LSFO and 200 mt of 180 CST LSFO. There were no sales of 500 CST LSFO in September.

The HSFO grades have a maximum sulfur content of 3.5%, while the LSFO grades have a maximum sulfur content of 1%, in line with MPA regulations.

Meanwhile, vessel arrivals in Singapore to buy bunker fuel stood at 3,178 in September, down 1.8% from August and 2.9% lower year on year.
