MES Hands Over Newbuild Bulker to SBI Poseidon Shipping Company

Japanese shipbuilding company Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (MES) has delivered a 60,432 dwt bulk carrier MV SBI Poseidon to SBI Poseidon Shipping Company, Marshall Islands.

The SBI Poseidon represents the 14th ship in MES’ neo60BC series and the third eco-ship in the shipbuilder’s neo series.

The 34,507 gross ton vessel is designed for loading cargos such as coal, ore, grain, as well as lengthy/heavy cargo such as steel pipe and hot coil.

The SBI Poseidon has low sulfur fuel oil tanks, which are designed for operation in Emission Control Areas (ECA).

The Liberia-flagged Ultramax features a length of 199.9 meters and a width of 32.3 meters and has been classed by American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).

Greece-based ship management company Optimum will manage the vessel, according to the company’s data.

One more Ultramax bulker, SBI Apollo, being built at MES is slated for delivery in October this year, Optimum’s data shows.
