2016-11-18

French container shipping major CMA CGM has launched REX3, a new service connecting Asia and the Red Sea.

The new service will link Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Singapore and China.

In addition to the calls offered in the company’s REX2, MEX1 and EPIC lines, CMA CGM said it now operates an additional stop, Djibouti, on the REX3 service.

“Djibouti is the entrance port to the Ethiopian market and will be now directly connected with Asia and Jeddah, a strategic port for exports to the US,” CMA CGM said.

Djibouti would be reached in 20 days from Shanghai and 15 days from Southern China, according to the company.

The new service will be operated through a SWAP agreement in partnership with Singapore-based shipping company APL, which is part of CMA CGM.

Port rotation of the REX3 service will be as follows: Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, Shekou (China), Singapore (Singapore), Djibouti (Djibouti), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Sokhna (Egypt), Aqaba (Jordan), Djibouti, Singapore, Ningbo, Shanghai.
