The 2019 Nautical Institute Singapore Conference prepares for record attendance

SINGAPORE, 8 May 2019 – The 2019 Nautical Institute Singapore Conference is set to host more than 150 registered delegates and 13 sponsors from the shipping and maritime community to discuss the key maritime issues of dealing with tomorrow’s challenges in today’s changing landscape.

The full-day conference which will take place on 15 May at the Suntec City Convention Centre, has the support of notable maritime organisations including the Baltic Exchange, BIMCO, Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), The Mission to Seafarers, Marine Offshore Oil and Gas Association (MOOGAS), Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA), Singapore Shipping Association (SSA), Women's International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) and YoungShip.

With IMO’s World Maritime Day theme for this year: ‘Empowering Women in the Maritime Community’, WISTA, represented by Michelle Yong, Partner at Stephenson Harwood, will be delivering a presentation on how WISTA as an association tackles the seafarer shortage issue and the role of women in today’s maritime industry.

Capt. Yves Vandenborn, Honorary Secretary and Associate Fellow of The Nautical Institute (AFNI) said, “We are honoured to be joined by the local industry organisations, and sponsors supporting this gathering of maritime professionals as we share insights on raising existing industry standards and innovation, as well as preparing for the challenges ahead – with clarity and confidence.”
