The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has revoked the bunker craft operator licence of Inter-Pacific Petroleum, effective from 15 October.

The termination of Inter-Pacific’s licence followed the temporarily suspension of the licence in late-June this year.

MPA said that as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure the integrity of bunkering in Singapore, checks were conducted on Inter-Pacific earlier this year.

“MPA’s checks and subsequent investigations revealed magnetic interferences affecting measurements of bunkers supplied in numerous mass flow meter MFM) readings across Inter-Pacific’s fleet of bunker tankers,” MPA explained.

“Inter-Pacific had also failed to ensure that its employees, including its cargo officers, comply with the terms and conditions of their licence,” it added.

Inter-Pacific still holds a bunker supplier licence issued by MPA, and MPA is currently investigating the company for any breach in the terms and conditions of the bunker supplier licence.

Singapore has made it mandatory to use MFM for all bunkering operations conducted within port waters.
