DHL has made another acquisition
On September 15, DHL Supply Chain announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire Colombian logistics operator Open Market. Completion of the acquisition remains subject to customary closing conditions.
DHL stated that this strategic acquisition further expands DHL's regional footprint and supports the execution of the Group's Strategy 2030, strengthening its ambition to grow in the life sciences and healthcare logistics sector by 2030. The transaction marks another milestone in building a stronger, more specialized global network for these rapidly growing industries.

Hendrik Venter, CEO of DHL Supply Chain, said, "This move reflects DHL's strategic focus on strengthening capabilities in regions and industries with sustained long-term growth. Colombia's strong economic momentum and growing demand for integrated logistics and transportation services make it a key growth market for the DHL Group. By expanding our operations here and integrating Open Market's expertise, particularly in managing complex supply chains for pharmaceuticals, medical products, and personal care, we are further enhancing DHL Health Logistics capabilities and strengthening our commitment to supporting customers in highly regulated and operationally demanding industries."
By integrating Open Market's network of 21 warehouses, totaling 120,000 square meters, 13 cross-docking platforms, and a transportation network supported by its own fleet, DHL Supply Chain is significantly strengthening its operational capabilities in Colombia. In addition, with the addition of approximately 4,100 Open Market employees, it is now better positioned to deliver reliable, customer-centric logistics solutions in the Colombian market. The acquisition also strengthens DHL's logistics solutions portfolio by adding capabilities in transportation, packaging, and temperature-controlled operations.
Agustín Croche, CEO of DHL Supply Chain Latin America, said, "Open Market's experience strongly complements DHL's existing offering in Latin America. Their unparalleled high-quality transportation network, including cross-docking platforms and temperature-controlled warehouses, combined with their experience supporting dynamic industries such as life sciences and healthcare, consumer, engineering, and manufacturing, enhances the quality and reliability of services provided to customers in Colombia and the broader region. This strategic acquisition underscores DHL's commitment to partnering with customers on their growth journey. By closely monitoring their evolving needs, we continue to invest in strategic capabilities to enhance competitiveness and support sustainable growth."
Robinson Vasquez, CEO of DHL Supply Chain Colombia, emphasized, "People are at the heart of success. By welcoming Open Market employees, DHL Supply Chain gains colleagues with extensive experience, deep market knowledge, and strong customer relationships, which will further strengthen our services in Colombia. This acquisition enables us to provide customers with more specialized, reliable, and responsive logistics solutions."
