Globus Maritime CEO Details Fleet Expansion Plans

Recently, Athanasios Feidakis, Chief Executive Officer of Globus Maritime Limited, stated that the company is pursuing a development strategy of gradually expanding its fleet through ordering newbuild vessels.

Globus Maritime Limited placed its first newbuilding order with Japan's Nihon Shipyard as early as 2022 and took delivery of its first Japanese-built vessel in early 2024.

The company currently operates nine dry bulk carriers, with two additional vessels of 64,000 dwt under construction at Nihon Shipyard.

The shipping firm plans to take delivery of two ultramax bulk carriers from the shipyard in the second half of this year, thereby advancing fleet renewal and enhancing its market competitiveness. Feidakis noted that the company's collaboration with Japan is not limited to shipbuilding, but also covers financial institutions, ship operators, and freight business segments.

Athanasios Feidakis said: "Our cooperation goals with the Japanese market are not confined to just a few newbuildings; in the future, we plan to reach a long-term shipbuilding partnership at the level of one hundred vessels."
