Recently, Brazilian offshore marine vessel operator OceanPact acquired the ship repair yard Dock Brasil, located in the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, for R$119 million (approximately US$23.1 million).

Dock Brasil stated that the acquisition aims to further consolidate its positioning and build a full-service ship repair base capable of supporting the entire industrial chain of maritime auxiliary vessels.

The transaction is still subject to the completion of various internal corporate processes and statutory approvals, which will be carried out progressively during August, with the closing expected on August 31.

OceanPact had long been a cooperating client of Dock Brasil, with ongoing business dealings between the two parties, and this acquisition further deepens their connection.

OceanPact CEO Flávio Andrade said: "We have worked with Dock Brasil for a long time. Now that this shipyard officially becomes part of OceanPact, the facility will continue to focus on its core ship repair business, while our overall capacity to serve the market will be significantly enhanced."

Dock Brasil General Manager Carlos Boeckh added: "This acquisition will help us expand our business footprint and implement new investments, better positioning us to seize opportunities in the maritime industry. For our clients, partners, and all employees, daily vessel docking and repair operations will remain unchanged, following the same model as before."

This acquisition comes several months after OceanPact signed a business combination agreement with Brazilian shipping company CBO. Once the merger is completed, the new group will operate 73 vessels, with annual revenues exceeding US$778 million and a total backlog of approximately US$2.7 billion.
