On September 11, the first of Ningbo Ocean Shipping's 4300TEU container ships was laid down at the Longxue yard of CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company Limited, marking that the batch of four container ships with the largest container capacity in Ningbo Ocean Shipping's history has entered the substantive construction stage.

According to Ningbo Ocean Shipping, the container ship whose construction has now started has an overall length of about 220 meters, a molded breadth of 37.5 meters, and a design service speed of about 19 knots. Compared with container ships of the same tonnage, this vessel type has advantages such as a large container capacity, low per-container transport cost, and strong operational flexibility, and is the container ship with the largest container capacity that Ningbo Ocean Shipping has ever invested in and built.

In terms of green environmental protection, this vessel type integrates advanced equipment such as a desulfurization tower, SCR denitrification system, and high-voltage shore power system. During port calls, it can achieve "zero emissions" by using shore power, fully meeting the emission reduction requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). In terms of intelligence, the vessel is equipped with an integrated intelligent ship system, covering functional modules such as intelligent energy efficiency management, equipment health management, intelligent navigation, and video management, and supporting integrated ship-shore management.

According to the construction plan, the 4300TEU container ships will be completed and delivered successively starting from the end of 2027 and put into international route operations.

CNSS previously reported that this batch of container ships was ordered by Ningbo Ocean Shipping in January this year. The company signed four tripartite container ship construction contracts with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. and CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company Limited, with each contract valued at RMB 409.8 million in cross-border renminbi, and the four contracts totaling RMB 1.6392 billion in cross-border renminbi.

In 2026, Ningbo Ocean Shipping has consistently adhered to a strategy of placing equal emphasis on expansion and optimization in terms of fleet capacity planning, and has achieved remarkable results in expanding fleet capacity and building a green and intelligent fleet. Since the beginning of this year, Ningbo Ocean Shipping has ordered 11 container ships.

As of the end of June 2026, Ningbo Ocean Shipping operated 119 vessels, with total capacity reaching 1.86 million deadweight tons and about 105,000 TEU; among them, there were 33 self-owned green energy-saving vessels, and the world's largest and China's first batch of 10,000-ton-class pure electric intelligent container sea-going ships had already achieved commercial operation in the first half of the year. At the same time, the company's newbuilding projects for 1,900, 2,700, and 4,300 TEU ships are advancing in echelon according to plan, and the fleet is steadily moving toward specialization, intelligence, greening, and energy conservation.

In the first half of this year, Ningbo Ocean Shipping achieved operating revenue of RMB 3.445 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17.66%; realized net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company of RMB 343 million, a year-on-year decrease of 9.28%; and total assets of RMB 9.729 billion, an increase of 10.64% compared with the end of the previous year. As of the end of the first half of the year, Ningbo Ocean Shipping operated a total of 109 container ships, operated 43 routes, with 140 weekly sailings on average, covering 53 major ports at home and abroad.
