On August 10, Cadeler, the world's largest operator of wind farm installation vessels under the BW Group, officially announced that it has signed formal contracts with COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry for the construction of two additional "T-class" wind farm installation vessels (WFIVs), scheduled for delivery in 2030 and 2031, respectively.

Cadeler stated that financing for this investment was secured earlier this year. The T-class series of wind farm installation vessels are meticulously designed to be the largest and most capable ships ever introduced to this segment, featuring groundbreaking technology and operational capabilities that far exceed current industry standards. These projects are intended to address increasingly complex projects with greater efficiency, versatility, and performance, and are expected to open up new opportunities while strengthening Cadeler's long-term competitive advantage and commitment to innovation.

Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler, said, "As offshore wind projects grow larger and technically more demanding, developers need installation partners with experience, professional capability, and a modern fleet to execute these projects safely and reliably." He emphasized, "We are very pleased to continue our cooperation with COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, with whom we have built a strong and trusted working relationship over the years. Their understanding of our requirements and commitment to quality make them an important partner for us as we continue to expand our fleet."

The T-class wind farm installation vessels are part of Cadeler's long-term fleet expansion strategy, reflecting Cadeler's ongoing investment in the capabilities needed to support the accelerated build-out of offshore wind in key markets. Cadeler is already in discussions with major customers regarding the deployment of the T-class vessels.
