Global First! Remote-Signing Delivery
On July 21, CSSC Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI), in collaboration with CSSC Shipping, successfully delivered the 10,800-car LNG dual-fuel car carrier No. 1 to Korea Ocean Business Corporation (KOBC) via an online remote signing ceremony. The virtual delivery method is a clear testament to KOBC's long-standing trust in China's shipbuilding capabilities and its recognition of GSI's construction quality.

This vessel is the third 10,800-car LNG dual-fuel car carrier of the same model delivered by GSI, and more notably, it is the world's first 10,000-car-class car carrier equipped with a photovoltaic power generation system.

The ship was jointly designed by GSI and the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute, and is classed by DNV and Korean Register (KR), allowing unrestricted global navigation. With an overall length of 230 meters, length between perpendiculars of 225.5 meters, breadth of 40 meters, depth of 15.6 meters, design draft of 9.1 meters, maximum draft of 10.5 meters, and service speed of 19 knots, the vessel is powered by a dual-fuel system using both fuel oil and natural gas. It is equipped with a shaft generator and a photovoltaic grid-connected system with a peak power of 200 kW. Based on an estimated daily sunshine duration of 5.5–7.0 hours, the photovoltaic system can generate approximately 1,000 kWh per day, demonstrating excellent energy-saving and emission-reduction performance. The vessel meets IMO Tier III emission standards, and its onboard natural gas storage capacity is sufficient for the entire voyage.
The ship features 14 car decks, of which 9 are fixed and 5 are hoistable. A stern door and a side door are arranged on the starboard side, enabling the loading of sedans, vans, trailers carrying freight containers, heavy trucks, and other vehicle types. In addition to vehicles, it can also carry certain packaged dangerous goods under the IMDG Code. The vessel is equipped with 16 hydraulically powered movable ramps and 2 layers of hydraulic hoistable decks, greatly improving vehicle loading/unloading efficiency and operational stability. This makes it highly adaptable to the diverse operational needs of global ocean-going ro-ro trade, with strong suitability and practicality.
The ship was delivered more than 200 days ahead of the contractual schedule, making it the shortest-construction-period 10,000-car-class LNG dual-fuel car carrier ever built and delivered by GSI to date, providing valuable experience for subsequent sister ships in the series. Upon delivery, the vessel will be chartered to GLOVIS (Hyundai Glovis Co., Ltd.) in South Korea and will undertake automobile trade transport services on routes from Asia to Southeast Asia, North America, and Europe.
