China’s Landbridge Group has received the fuel-efficient VLCC Landbridge Horizon from Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company to further expand its VLCC fleet capacity.

The 308,000-dwt VLCC Landbridge Horizon will be deployed on routes to the Middle East, Far East, West Africa, South America and Caribbean regions.

The delivery of Landbridge Horizon has boosted Landbridge Group’s VLCC fleet capacity to 1.5m tonnes.

Its sixth VLCC will be delivered in the first half of 2020, which could position the company to be the largest private VLCC owner in China.

Landbridge Group, based in Rizhao, Shandong province, is a diversified group specialising in port logistics, petrochemical and transportation.

It has been actively expanding its petrochemical business in recent years and purchased natural gas producer Westside Corporation in Australia, and the oil and gas fields in Rimu, Kauri, Manutahi in New Zealand.
