2019-08-30

Chinese shipbuilder Wuhu Shipyard has received an order for three LNG-powered Ro-Lo vessels from Finnish company Bore Shipping.

The three 7,000 dwt vessels will have a length of 120 m, width of 21m, and a speed of about 15 knots. The vessels will be Swedish/Finnish 1A ice-class, and will meet the latest technological, operational and environmental standards, and will be built during 2020-2021. The vessels will be equipped with dual fuel LNG-powered engines.

The new Ro-Lo vessels will serve under a long-term charter agreement between Bore and UPM. Bore and UPM have designed the concept for the R-oLo vessels to be built by Bore for sustainable sea transportation of UPM’s paper products in Europe, combining features from pure Ro-Ro (Roll-on Roll-off) with Lo-Lo (Lift-on Lift-off) transportation concepts, according to Bore.

The new order will see Bore’s operational fleet expand to 11 vessels.

Wuhu Shipyard, started from Fujiheng Machine Plant, has a 115-year history. The shipyard can build various ships mainly include heavy-lift vessel, multipurpose vessel, bulk carrier and icebreaking work vessel.
