Feb.18 BDI slumps to 509 points on Chinese New Year’s Eve

The freight rates of capesize carriers slumped caused by the declined demand, driving BDI declining to 509 points with a drop of 7 points (-1.36%) on Feb. 18, hitting the lowest level since January, 1985.

BCI dropped 25 points (4.24%) to 564 points. The average daily earnings decreased $274 to $5,447.

BPI increased 6 points (1.18%) to 514 points. The average daily earnings increased $54 to $4,110.

BSI dropped 2 points to 478 points.
