2016-07-28

Week 29, 2016 (Jul.18-Jul.22), the International Grain Future Freight (IGF) reported the Panamax forward freight rate of US Gulf-Tianjin route (soybean) from Oct. to Dec. in 2016, and the trend is shown in the chart below:

The plenty rainfall and comfortable temperatures during the most key growing period of soybean eased the fear that La Nina may affect the harvest. Now the good rate of U.S. soybean is 71% and the blooming rate is 59%, both are better than the same period last year and the average rate of last five years.

In terms of the shipping market, the future freight rate shocked on a high level. It slightly increased $0.25/ton on Jul.18 (Mon.) and $0.12/ton on Jul.20 (Wed.). And the rate finally closed at $28.13/ton on Jul.22 (Fri.) with an increase of 0.90% from Jul. 15 (the last release day of Week 28).
