Introduction of 2018 Zheng He Maritime Billboard Selection Activity

In order to encourage navigation field to blaze new trails in a pioneering spirit in the construction of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Transportation Power and MaritimeTransport Power, and to strive to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, Zheng He Maritime Billboard Selection Activity was officially launched in 2017 as one of the series of activities of China Maritime Day.

In 2018, Zheng He Maritime Billboard Selection Activity set sail again, with the theme of Inheriting Zheng He Spirit and Building the Dream of a Strong Country Together and the conduct code of Encouraging innovation, Advocating development, Highlighting value, Upholding integrity and promoting good, Pursuing objective and fair, Focusing on public interest.

Zheng He Maritime Billboard Selection Activity, one of activities on China Maritime Day, seeks to encourage navigation field to blaze new trails in a pioneering spirit in the construction of Belt and Road, Transportation Power and MaritimeTransport Power, and to strive to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The activity takes Encouraging innovation, Advocating development, Highlighting value, Upholding integrity and promoting good, Pursuing objective and fair, Focusing on public interest as a code of conduct to fully reflect the shipping industry’s expectations and social rationality. And it has achieved great support from Zheng He Research Society, China Institute of Navigation, Chinese Society for Oceanography, China Ports &Harbours Association, Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, China Water Transportation Construction Association, China Association of Communication Enterprise Management, China Shipowners’ Association, Cross-Strait Shipping Exchange Association, Shanghai Shipping Exchange and other institutions.

Zheng He Maritime Billboard Selection Activity has received widespread recognition and support from all walks of life in shipping industry and major social media.

First of all, the Zheng He Maritime Billboard Selection Activity has an extensive mass foundation.

In the first (2017) Zheng He Maritime Billboard Selection Activity, more than 100 institutions and individuals signed up to participate in the Selection Activity and finally 62 eligible candidates entered the primary election. The online primary voting eventually received nearly 1.2 million valid votes.

In 2018, nearly 300 institutions and individuals signed up to participate in the Selection Activity. Finally, 208 eligible candidates entered the primary election. The valid votes in the online primary in 2018 were nearly 6 million.

Secondly, the Zheng He Maritime Billboard Selection Activity has attracted a large number of first-class institutions and notables in the shipping industry to participate.

In the two-year Zheng He Maritime Billboard Selection Activity, there are a large number ofexcellent institutions and individuals in the candidate list, such as China COSCO Shipping Group and its subsidiaries, China Merchants Group and its subsidiaries, SITC International Holdings Co., Ltd.,Shandong Shipping Corporation, Dalian Maritime University, Shanghai Maritime University, Jimei University, several maritime safety administrations in Heilongjiang, Shandong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Hainan, Chongqing, Fujian, Hubei and many other places, and numerous well-known domestic and foreign enterprises and related individuals.
