A large amount of dry bulk vessels were chartered in the spot market today. In particular, a large amount of capesize and panamax vessels were chartered to haul iron ore and coal cargoes. However, capesize and panamax rates have remained under pressure due to current oversupply of capesize and panamax vessels in the spot market. As with last week, only supramax and handysize rates are currently finding any support. Mineral cargo trade has continued to help these two smaller vessel classes.
