China to build 20 maritime surveillance ships in 2014

This year China will strive to improve oceanic development into circulation utilization pattern, focusing on the construction of ecological civilization and controlling the quantities of waster and pollutants from land to the sea. Ecological red line shall be drawn in ecologically sensitive areas, ecologically vulnerable areas and ecologically functional zones. The Chinese leadership urges the drawing of a "red line" for ecological protection and the implementation of a system of paid use of resources and ecological compensation.

In the middle of August, 2013, Chinese maritime surveillance fleets started cruise in Beikang, Nankang Ansha areas. According the statement of China Marine Surveillance, it has finished 36 regular enforcement cruises totally for 262 days, covering all the sea areas under the jurisdiction of China. It was also introduced that 20 maritime surveillance ships are to be built in 2014, ensuring enter into the fleet on schedule.
