China’s shipbuilding output down 21.5 percent in the first seven months of 2014

In the first seven months of 2014, China’s shipbuilding output stood at 20.66 million DWT, down 21.5 percent than the same period last year. The newly contracted shipbuilding orders reached 45.73 million DWT, up 42.5% than the same period last year and the holding shipbuilding orders 153.73 million DWT, increasing by 36.4% till the end of July year-on-year and up by 17.1% compared with that at the end of 2013.

January-July, 2014, the completion volume of export ships was 18.12 million DWT, down 11.9% year-on-year; newly contracted export orders reached 42.8 million DWT, up 56.7% and until the end of July, holding export orders reached 145.01 million DWT, increasing by 55.9%. Export ships accounted for87.7%, 93.6%and 94.5%ofChina’s shipbuilding output, newly contracted shipbuilding orders and holding shipbuilding orders respectively.
