According to data from Customs, China imported coal 21.16 million tons in September with a drop of 17.8%. Depending on incomplete statistics of Beijing Business Today, since July, imported coal in China has declined by 20% for 3 months.

Data showed that imported coal in September increased 2.3 million tons compared with August, about12.2% and decreased 4.57 million tons with a drop of 17.8% than the same period last year.

In August, the imported coal fell to under 20 million tons, turning up 30% drop than the same period last year, hitting the largest drop since this year.

A coal expert said that the big decline in imported coal largely due to the weakening of advantages from imported coal after lowering price of domestic coal in July. It is predicted that the imported coal still keep declining trend in the next 3 months.

In addition, National Development and Reform Commission required to reduce imported coal 50 million tons in 2014. At the beginning nine months of this year, China has reduced 15.9 million tons and another 34 million need to be reduced in the last 3 months this year.
