Chinese iron ore import is expected to increase more than 40 million tons in 2013. However, BDI this year will remain fluctuating in a lower level. Chinese government is researching solutions to support shipping industry.

Song Dexing, Director of the Water Transport Department in the Ministry of Transport, said that related Ministries are discussing the policies on speeding up the development of shipping industry, which will be formulated around adjusting capacity structure, scrapping old vessels, and taxes reformation. It is revealed that shipping central enterprises appealed to carry out Government Assistance Programs. As expected, some policies will be carried out at the end of 1q 2013.
