BP rumoured to be about to order large MR series

According to brokers’ reports, BP Shipping is thought to be in discussions with South Korean yards for up to 30 high specification MR size product carriers.

MRs continue to show firming tendencies in the timecharter market, illustrated by ADNATCO taking the 2007- built ‘Atlantic Crown’ for 12 months at $14,500 per day, while Koch was reported to have fixed the 2009-built ‘Prisco Elizaveta’ for 12 months at $13,800 per day.

In the larger sector, Gard was said to have taken the Aframax ‘Propontis’ for 24/30 months at $19,000 per day.

In the S&P markets, another Frontline tanker was confirmed sold. The 1993-built Suezmax ‘Front Pride’ was taken by European interests for around $11-$12 mill.

In a lucklustre market, the 2007-built LR1 ‘Delight Victoria’ was reported sold to Flagship Marine for $25 mill.

Leaving the fleet was the 1992-built Aframax ‘Luzon Spirit’ sold to Bangladesh breakers on private terms.
