Zhangjiagang Bonded Area Saw Influx of Cotton from Uzbekistan

Cotton shipped from Uzbekistan into Zhangjiagang Bonded Area this year boomed to over 27000 tons, of which the value reached $50 million, taking up more than 40% of the total imported cotton volume in that month. In comparison, cotton imported from Uzbekistan in the thorough last year was only 30000 tons.

Uzbekistan is one of the famous cotton production countries, with a history of over 2000 years planting cotton. As the member of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Uzbekistan keeps a close trading relationship with China. Cotton imported from Uzbekistan can reach a yearly 0.3 million tons. Especially after the meeting between these two countries, there comes a better market for cotton trade.
