The Export-Import Bank of China Started $3 Billion Shipping Finance Project

The Export-Import Bank of China will provide about $3 billion for shipping finance, 40% more than the $2.1 billion project in last year.

Shanghai branch of bank said that, the finance project focuses on merchant ships, marine equipment and energy resources. Especially the ultra large container ships, gas ships and other high-technical vessels are paid close attention to. The bank also aims to provide finance support for shipowners who order newbuilding in Chinese ship yards, and the Shanghai branch has offered about $500 million for those signed contracts with local ship yards.

The Export-Import Bank of China had provided $1.8-1.9 billion between the year 2009 to 2011, to help shipowners purchase second-hand vessels and other asset investment.
