2013-03-01

Piraeus Portof Greece operated by COSCO has been officially connected with Greek railway network on February 28, which will help Piraeus Port become a main transferring center for the Mediterranean area and southeast Europe area.

"The delivery of this 17km railway line has made Greek railway and Piraeus Port enter into a new era- the era of intermodal transports," Greek Development, Infrastructure, Transport and Networks Minister Kostis Hatzidakis said after the inauguration ceremony. This project can help shorten time for shipment from Asia to Europe through Piraeus Port.

"This completion of this railway is the basis of cooperation between COSCO, Hewlett-Packard and Trainose, which shows that Greece doesn't quit during crisis, but is moving forward and the economic recovery will come back," Hatzidakis stressed during a press conference at Piraeus.
