Taiwan maps pilot free economic zone

2013-04-01

Taiwanese authorities have unveiled a plan to establish a pilot free economic zone (FEZ) on the island.

The FEZ will focus on developing high-valued added industries, and will target the mainland and the other emerging markets, according to the local Council for Economic Planning and Development.

The pilot zone will ease the policies on duty-free imports and exports of raw materials and commodities.

The first phase of the plan will be carried out at the existing free trade ports in Taiwan.
