Mexico is set to receive a spot cargo of liquefied natural gas from Qatar, according to ship-tracking data. The Cadiz Knutsen, with a capacity of about 135,000 cubic meters, is scheduled to arrive today at the port of Manzanillo on the west coast of Mexico, according to ship transmissions captured by IHS Fairplay on Bloomberg. The vessel stopped at Qatar’s Ras Laffan LNG terminal to load the supercooled gas and departed June 12, the data show.

Mexico’s Comision Federal de Electricidad awarded a tender in May for 19 spot cargoes to Amsterdam-based Trafigura Beheer BV, two shipments to RWE AG, Germany’s second-largest utility, and eight to BP Plc (BP/), the company said. The LNG will be supplied from Qatar, Norway, Trinidad & Tobago, Brunei or Nigeria to Manzanillo, according to Mexico City-based CFE.

The Mexican company, which generates, distributes and markets electricity, has two contracts with Repsol SA for a combined annual LNG supply of 3.18 million tons, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
