Taiwan CPC delays resuming 380 CST bunker fuel supply at Taichung to Dec from August

Taiwan's state-owned CPC will be resuming supply of 380 CST bunker fuel at Taichung Port in December instead of August, as repair work on the storage tank for 380 CST bunker fuel was still ongoing, a company source said Wednesday.

CPC suspended supplying 380 CST grade bunker fuel in December last year when the company started maintenance at its sole 380 CST bunker fuel storage tank at the port. CPC has three storage tanks at Taichung -- two for storing 180 CST bunker fuel and one for 380 CST bunker fuel. The storage capacity of the 180 CST bunker fuel tanks are 25,000 cubic meters and 50,000 cu m. The capacity for the 380 CST bunker fuel tank is 25,000 cu m.

The company carries out maintenance on its tanks every five years, said the source.

Supply of 180 CST bunker fuel, however, has not been suspended, the source added.

CPC is the largest bunker fuel supplier in Taiwan, selling the shipping fuel at Kaohsiung Port in the south, Keelung Port in the north, Taichung Port in the west coast and Hualien Port and Suao Port in the east coast. Taiwan sells about 1.5 million mt of bunker fuel every year. Most of the bunker fuel is imported from Singapore.
