Shandong's 10-month sea port throughput box volume up 11.13pc

SEA ports in eastern China's Shandong province recorded a collective container throughput of 17.54 million TEU from January to October this year, which was 11.13 per cent more year on year, Xinhua reports.

In the same period, the throughput tonnage of these ports amounted to 988 million tonnes, up 10.51 per cent. Foreign trade shipments increased 12.1 per cent to 560 million tonnes.

The province's three largest ports, Qingdao, Rizhao and Yantai, contributed to 85.54 per cent of Shangdong's throughput total. In the first 10 months, their throughput totalled 830 million tonnes.

Qingdao Port Group handled 380 million tonnes, up 10.29 per cent. Rizhao Port Group's throughput increased 10.48 per cent to 260 million tonnes. Yantai's grew 12.14 per cent to 190 million tonnes.

In October, Shandong province's sea port throughput tonnage totalled to 102 million tonnes, up 9.94 per cent compared to the same month in 2012.
