Iran Oil Buyers to Carry Cargos Themselves

2013-12-09

Iranian Deputy Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh said buyers of Iran’s crude oil can take delivery of cargos with their own vessels and insurance. Vaziri-Hamaneh said the development is due to the lifting of some sanctions targeting Iran’s oil sector.

“Before the Geneva nuclear accord was reached and the ensuing oil sanctions relief, Iran had to carry oil to its buyers in Iranian vessels. Now, the elimination of restrictions facilitates and improves oil sales,” he added.

Vaziri-Hamaneh said Iran sanctions relief has persuaded international oil companies to be present again in Iran’s petroleum industry.

“These [international] companies have in recent months expressed their interest through their media and they are predicted to return to Iran as soon as sanctions have been fully lifted,” he added.

Petrochemical Sales

Vaziri-Hamaneh said all petrochemical products produced in Iran have been sold despite unilateral sanctions imposed by the West.

“So far, no petrochemical product produced in the country has remained unsold and Iran has been getting around sanctions to export its products,” he added.

Vaziri-Hamaneh said the export of petrochemical products will become easier after sanctions relief.

He expressed hope that Iran will be able to return its petrodollars and that the country will get rid of the current financial restrictions.

No Obstacle in Refining

Vaziri-Hamaneh said all refining projects, including Persian Gulf Star Refinery, have been reconsidered and their problems have been resolved.

“We are currently trying to finance prioritized projects in order to accelerate their construction,” he said.

Vaziri-Hamaneh said Iran’s petroleum industry will meet its objectives enshrined in the country’s 20-year Vision Plan.
