In December, 2013, China’s demolition prices turned out to have maintained the level recorded the previous month.

According to China Water Transport, average scrapping prices of tankers in the range of 15,000-25,000 LDT, Product Carriers (PC) in 6,000-10,000 LDT range and bulkers in 7,000-12,000 LDT were seen at $353.92, $348.40 and $340.02, respectively showing month-on-month growth of 0.09%, 0.05% and 0.22%.

In full December, China purchased a total of 10 demolished ships (down by 33.33% month-on-month) of 467,000 dwt (down by 44.6%) and sent 500,000 dwt (down by 50%) old ships to scrapping facilities.
