Nanjing sets express development plan to support three biggest companies

NANJING, the capital of eastern China's Jiangsu province has completed and officially issued a plan for the development of the city's express industry for the period from 2013 to 2015, Xinhua reports.

The city also plans to support the development of the three largest express companies whose annual revenue is expected to exceed CNY1 billion (US$165 million), said the report.

The plan specifies guidelines, targets, major tasks, policies for Nanjing's express industry. By 2015, Nanjing aims to achieve an annual express parcel volume of 450 million pieces and an industry revenue of CNY6 billion), which takes up 70 per cent of the city's business postal revenue. Express industry value's proportion in the city's GDP will be raised to 0.6 per cent.

Nanjing also aims to create over 20,000 jobs in the express industry and bring the total workers of the industry to 35,000. The city will also implement national profession standards for the express industry and have 30,000 workers trained and qualified.

Nanjing will also build distribution facilities for express packages in different places in the city, including the airport.

To ensure targets are met, the plan also specifies seven tasks in raising express service capacity, upgrading administrative practices, promotion of integrations of related industries, supporting the leading players in the industry, encouraging application of new technologies and environmental friendliness.
