Chinese NB prices keep increasing 2014

In June, newbuilding prices of Chinese shipbuilding industry turned out to have kept uptrend, overall.

According to Chinese local statistics, average newbuilding prices of tankers such as VLCC, Suezmax, Aframax, MR PC, came at $95.59m, $62.70m, $52.25m, and $35.44m, respectively, showing changes of -0.37%, +0.30%, +0.36%, +0.65%, month-on-month.

In terms of those of Capesize, Panamax, Handymax and Handysize bulker, they showed fluctuations as respectively making ups and downs as -0.04%, +0.54%, +0.86% and +1.02%, to $54.98m, $28.50m, $26.89m and $22.61m.

Gas carrier newbuildings like 82,000 cbm LPG carrier and 160,000 cbm LNG carrier were valued at $76m and $190m, up by 0.25% and 0%, each, while 13,000 teu and 2,750 teu containership prices stood at $111.03m and $30.40m, each, which translates to changes as -0.11% and 0%.

Last month, Chinese yards' new orders kept decreasing and the statistics said that the yards were awarded 91 vessels in total, down by 28.91% month-on-month, of which bulker sector involves 52 orders (six VLOCs, 11 Capes, four Kamsarmaxes, two Panamaxes, 24 Handymaxes and five Handysizes) while tanker orders were signed for 18 units (two VLCCs, two Aframaxes, four Panamaxes and 10 PCs).

Along with these, the Chinese yards were awarded three LPG carriers, two semi-submergible barges, four chemical tankers, one self-unloading salt carrier, two PCTCs, six AHTSs, one cruise ship and one government-duty vessel. In offshore area, they won one drilling platform.
