Wuhan explored to establish the first shipping special zone inland China, taking example by Shanghai Free Trade Zone and Tianjin Binhai New Area, to boost deeply integrated development of financial and shipping industry.

Up to 2020, Wuhan will plan to construct 50 important projects with the investment of 95.1 billion, dedicating to create the shipping center along middle reaches of Changjiang River. It, together with Shanghai ang Chongqing, can form three shipping hubs along Changjiang River.
