The Chinese Government revealed a development plan for 2014-2020 on Saturday with an aim of mitigating logistics congestion issues, cutting red tape and developing further its shipbuilding industry.

The decision is triggered by the growing need for modernization of infrastructure to keep up with the economic development of the country.

The plan is, inter alia, targeted at improving connections between ports by tackling logistical chokepoints.

According to a government statement, investments will be made in construction of transport facilities to boost transport of grains and coal. Formation of larger entities from logistics companies will also be encouraged.

In addition, investments will be assigned for construction of ports that can handle imports of iron ore and other minerals.

In terms of shipbuilding, the plan is to encourage construction of oil and LNG tankers.

Specific figures regarding the future investment have not been revealed yet.
