COSCO Dalian wins Module Carrier

COSCO Dalian Shipyard of COSCO Shipyard Group, a subsidiary of COSCO Corporation (Singapore), won additional order for a Module Carrier from BigRoll Shipping of Netherland.

According to BigRoll, the ‘MC Class’ module carrier has 173m of length, 42m of breadth with 12m of height. Named ‘BigRoll Baffin’, it is scheduled for delivery in June 2016.

The 21,000 dwt module carrier newbuilding has 42m x 125m of deck area, capable of transporting very large module cargos to remote areas like the Arctic.

Meanwhile, BigRoll signed a newbuilding agreement for 2+2 units of same sized carrier with the yard in September last year. The ‘BigRoll Baffin’ is one of the options attached.

The two firm vessels, ‘BigRoll Barentsz’ and ‘BigRoll Bering’, will be delivered in August and October 2015, each.
