Cargo ship sinks in Yangtze River

On October, 22, a cargo ship carrying ore has sunk in the Yangtze River in Yichang, Hubei Province in Central China.

All 10 crew members on board were rescued successfully.

The ship was carrying 4,975 tonnes of titanium concentrate from Chongqing, which suddenly broke from the middle of the hull when sailing to waters near Yichang, according to local maritime safety administration.

As one of the key ports along the Yangzte River, Yichang handled 58,473teu and 1.3M tonnes of cargo in the first half of 2014, up by 24.2% and 30.6% year on year respectively.

Yichang Maritime Safety Administration has already taken measures to make investigations.
