China’s coastal coal freight rates down in week to December 2

Freight rates to ship coal from northern China’s Qinhuangdao port to the other Chinese ports of Zhangjiagang, Shanghai and Guangzhou moved lower in the week to Tuesday, Qinhuangdao Port said.

Freight rate from Qinhuangdao to Zhangjiagang in eastern China’s Jiangsu province for 20,000-30,000 mt capacity vessels slipped by Yuan 0.20/mt on the week to Yuan 27.70/mt ($4.50/mt) on Tuesday, the port said.

The rate from Qinhuangdao to Shanghai in eastern China for vessels with a capacity of 40,000-50,000 mt slipped Yuan 0.10/mt week-on-week at Yuan 22.20/mt, while the rate from Qinhuangdao to Guangzhou in southern China for 50,000-60,000 mt vessels also slipped by Yuan 0.10/mt to Yuan 31.70/mt.

Meanwhile, coal stocks at Qinhuangdao port stood at 6.59 million mt on Tuesday, up from 6.38 million mt a week ago, port figures show.
